Classic Biryani with Onicrust

Add the perfect crunch to this timeless dish.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups basmati rice (soaked and cooked)
  • 500g chicken or vegetables (marinated in yogurt and spices)
  • 2 medium onions (sliced and caramelized)
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 4 tablespoons Onicrust crispy fried onions (plus extra for garnish)
  • 3 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil
  • Fresh coriander and mint leaves (for garnish)

Method:

  1. Heat ghee in a large pot, and cook marinated chicken or vegetables until tender. Set aside.
  2. In the same pot, layer half the cooked rice, followed by chicken or vegetables, and a sprinkle of Onicrust crispy fried onions.
  3. Repeat with the remaining rice and top with caramelized onions.
  4. Cover the pot and steam on low heat for 20 minutes.
  5. Garnish with fresh coriander, mint leaves, and more Onicrust crispy fried onions before serving.
